STAINLESS STEEL PASSIVATION
Passivation is a non-electrolytic cleaning process that uses nitric and/or citric acid to remove free irons from the surface of stainless steel in order to prevent corrosion from the prolonged contact of the two metals. At the same time, the passivation process creates a thin but dense chromium oxide layer that further protects the surface from rust and corrosion.
