WHAT IS LIQUID MASKING?

Liquid masking is a chemical resistant liquid that dries or cures to a hard rubber like consistency to prevent the surface from receiving a finish. This is where the term selective plating comes from. Selective plating means there is at least one surface that is free of finish or has a different final finish. Liquid masking works well on surfaces that have complex geometries where tape and plugs will not suffice.

THE ART & SCIENCE OF LIQUID MASKING

It takes an experienced worker to know what type of masking compound to use and when. There are half a dozen different types of liquid masking, all with different viscosities and purposes. The cure time between coats and methods of application can vary greatly. Some of our most experienced workers tackle this type of work with great precision daily. The high degree of difficulty is the main reason most plating companies do not offer liquid masking services and is where INCERTEC separates itself from the competition.
